Working as an independent animator for the past 12 years has meant I've had the opportunity to work with some incredible & creative people, many of whom I also get to call a friend.
This page highlights some of the excellent collaborations I've contributed to, often comprised of small teams of freelancers.
VALENTINO GARAVANI
Chris Edser is a friend and colleague I've had the joy of working and talking about birds with across my entire career. We've worked on 30+ projects together now, and I look back at this project with a lot of fondness.

Chris designed and directed 'Year of the Dog' in 2018 to celebrate the 2018 Lunar New Year for Valentino and 2DM Management

Animators who helped out on this video include: Makoto KojiHannah Judd, Chris and myself. We designed all the character walk-cycles to be short loops so we could easily use them as animated stickers and GIFs for share-ability.

Music & Sound: Tim Whitt
Something I learned quite quickly when working as an independent artist, is that projects are often a lot more fun, and of course efficient, when you're able to make it collaborative!
SIMPLY PIANO
This animated spot was directed by Adam Blufarb and myself for JoyTunes.
Amy Charlick and I worked together animating this slightly malevolent iPad based on my characters and storyboards. I love how expressive and fluid Amy's animation is for this piece, and I'm so delighted with how this whole project came together.
WINDMILL THEATRE COMPANY
End of Financial Year Campaign.
Chris illustrated these iconic characters for Windmill Theatre’s EOFY promotion- you should check out the full brochure on Chris' website here.

I animated his set of 6 characters, who have all been characters in Windmill productions over the years. I love how all of these turned out, though Grug on the bike with his flouncy fur animation is my favourite.
DREAM BIG CHILDREN'S FESTIVAL
In 2019, 5 year old Addison won Dream Big's competition to have their drawing of a family as the festival's mascot for the year.

In this 30 second spot, Chris Edser and I built on the mystical Dream Big universe that the family visits. Using the Festivals style guide and assets in the animation, we tried to replicate the exciting atmosphere of the festival and highlight some of the shows participants might enjoy.
Later in 2023 Chris and I collaborated on an interactive project for Dream Big, which was titled "When I'm 50". Children across schools in South Australia were asked what they thought Earth would be like when they're 50.
This project shows their portraits paired with audio recordings of their musings.
When I'm 50 was made possible due to a lot of hard work from a whole team of people! Mali and Lucy conducted workshops at schools, producing these incredible drawings and soundbites with the students. Maddie, Georgi and Sonal did an unbelievable amount of ideation, planning and coordination to make everything flow as smoothly as possible.

This project was displayed on an interactive screen that Chris Petridis set up with his actual wizard skills! The display functioned so that when you stood in front of a section of the screen, the animation would then automate.

It was a huge undertaking, for so many people and the outcome was such a great success. This is one of those projects that is really hard to describe but it was just such a joy to be a part of.
Chris made these beautiful collage backgrounds, combining elements of the children's drawings at the workshops to make four distinct worlds. We thought this was the best way we could have lots of the students work featured in the displays.
Animating children's drawings is such a rewarding process. You get a little glimpse at how funny, creative and thoughtful an individual child might be. Our aim was always to highlight the message each student was trying to convey, whether it was something uplifting or existential, we really hope we did justice to each of their voices.
GOT ME A BEARD
I couldn't make this page without sharing the first freelance project I'd worked on back in 2012.
See: Lisa Vertudaches Origins. I'm very thankful to Chris, Bill, Jarrod, and Harry for helping me find my feet in animation.
